BACH IN BALTIMORE
Bach Cantata 208

35-voice choir and soloists perform Bach Cantata 208, Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd!, otherwise knoen as the Hunt Cantata, featuring the famous “Sheep May Safely Graze” aria. Prior to the performance, Bach Concert Series founder and music director Maestro T. Herbert Dimmock will give a brief talk on Bach’s music.

BALTIMORE LIEDER WEEKEND
The celebration of “Lieder” - the German word for art song in the classical music world. Our scholars this year will be Susan Youens, the internationally renowned art song scholar, and Michael Musgrave, one of the world's leading experts on the works of Johannes Brahms. Another special guest will be Madeline Adkins, associate concertmaster of the Our Young Singers will be Samantha Malk, who appeared in BLW 2012, and Michael Kelly, a fast rising baritone. The Baltimore Lieder Weekend 2013 will feature two full concerts, two lectures by truly international renowned scholars, a panel discussion and a master class. Receptions afterwards encourage interaction and dialogue.

BSO Open Rehearsal

The BSO offers this unique opportunity to experience the rehearsal process & observe the interaction between conductor, soloists & musicians, as they prepare for an upcoming performance.

“Worthless and impossible to play,” declared Tchaikovsky’s friends, but he refused to change what became hisptry’s most popular piano concerto. Born blind, Nobuyuki Tsujii has inspired audiences the world over. Also, Norwegian conductor Arild Remmereit leads the music of his countryman in music from Grieg’s famous Peer Gynt.

Fri Oct 18 10am Doors open at 9:15am Regearsal will begin at approx. 10am and end at approx. noon. CHILDREN UNDER 6 YEARS OF AGE WILL NOT BE ADMITTED.

BALTIMORE THEATRE PROJECT
SONAR New Music Ensemble

SONAR reopens for the 2013-2014 season with a program inspired by the theater in celebration of their new home at Theatre Project. The centerpiece of the program will be a fully staged performance of Peter Maxwell Davies’ exhilarating Eight Songs for a Mad King. Written in 1969 and based of the words of King George III, Davies highlights the mad ramblings of a king who envisioned his court attendants as pet birds in their cages. Also on this program is Stephen Hartke’s Grammy Award-winning Meanwhile: Incidental music to imaginary shadow puppet plays, John Cage’s Living Room Music and a world premiere by Ethan Braun, the 2013 [RADARlab] Audience prizewinner. A talk-back with the artists will follow the performance.

Gospel Concert
